What is the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)?
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a landmark federal government initiative designed to help millions of Canadians who would otherwise go without access to essential dental care. Launched in December 2023 with a federal investment of $13 billion over five years, the CDCP aims to eliminate the financial barriers that have long kept Canadians away from the dentist chair.
Do You Qualify for CDCP?
To qualify for CDCP, you must meet the all the below criteria

How To Apply
Apply for CDCP
Apply online through your My Service Canada Account (MSCA), or call Service Canada at 1-833-537-4342. You'll need your SIN and last year's Notice of Assessment.
Receive Your Sun Life Card
Once approved, Sun Life (CDCP's service provider) will mail you a welcome package with your member card and coverage details.
Book at Greenwoods Dental
Call us or book online. Bring your Sun Life member card and a government-issued ID. We'll handle the rest — including preauthorization for any major services.
Get the Care You Deserve
Receive comprehensive dental care at any of our 5 Winnipeg locations. We'll direct-bill Sun Life on your behalf for covered services.
Please Note
* The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) covers approved procedures at predetermined fee levels, which will differ from the standard fee guide (Manitoba Dental Association 2026 Fee Guide) followed by most dental clinics, including Greenwoods Dental.
* Any remaining balance not covered under the CDCP will be the patient’s responsibility.
* Coverage currently applies primarily to essential dental services. Certain major treatments may require preauthorization prior to approval.
