Our expert dental crown services save damaged teeth, restore full function, and give you back a smile you’ll love.

What are Dental Crowns?
A dental crown (often called a “cap”) is a custom-made restoration that completely covers a damaged or weakened tooth. Think of it as a protective shell that restores your tooth’s natural shape, size, and strength while enhancing its appearance. Crowns are designed to look and function just like your natural teeth, making them an ideal solution for both front and back teeth.
Unlike fillings that repair a portion of a tooth, crowns encase the entire visible surface above the gum line, providing complete protection and restoration. This makes them the gold standard for saving teeth that might otherwise need extraction.

The Dental Crown Procedure: What To Expect
Getting a dental crown typically requires two appointments at our Winnipeg office, though same-day options may be available with CEREC technology in some cases.
First Visit
We check your mouth, review your options, and take photos and X-rays to plan your treatment.
Tooth Prep
- Local anesthetic is used for comfort.
- Decay and any old filling material are removed.
- The tooth is carefully reshaped to create room for the crown.
Impressions
- Digital scanning or traditional impression material may be used.
- Precise measurements of the prepared tooth are captured.
- Your bite relationship is recorded for accurate crown design.
- The shade is selected to match your natural tooth colour.
Temporary Crown Placement
You wear a temporary crown while your permanent one is being made.
Final Crown Placement
We remove the temporary crown and place the permanent crown once you are satisfied with the fit and shade.
Adjustment Period
Most patients adjust to their new crown within a few days. You can usually return to normal eating and speaking right away, though softer foods are recommended for the first 24 hours.
